Repurposing
The term “repurposing” defines an item created for one purpose, but “repurposed” for something entirely different. (Think of old barn siding “repurposed” as an interior wall covering.) Effingham Regional Incubator Network is opening a new location in Newton, IL. The location, in a former hardware store, included 4 large sheets of glass. Rather than simply disposing of the glass, the creative people of Newton “repurposed” one sheet as their new whiteboard.
Prior to hanging the board, the wall section was painted white, with the framed glass panel hung in front. The original builders likely never imagined how their material might be repurposed nearly a century later.
