Not Much Changing Around Here.

“Not much changing around here.” – Technology is proving otherwise.

It used to be the phrase of old-timers (and bored younger folk) that nothing much is happening. Well, Google is providing the technology to offer a visual comparison. Earthengine.google.com is a time-lapse of satellite imagery from 1984 – 2016 to see the changes in an area.
It might be a little bit grainy, but here’s a view of Effingham’s Industrial park in 1984 and today.

Pretty dramatic changes. Pretty cool technology. Check out the site to see the time-lapse for every year since 1984. The site allows the viewer to slow down or speed up the time-lapse. Whatever the speed, it’s visual evidence that the world is changing rapidly.
